High Oil Pressure on Mercruiser

Was cruising along and warning buzzer sounded off. The Smartgauge and dash gauge said oil pressure was 60#. What should the oil pressure be on a 240 Sundeck with a 5.0 Bravo II (OW344212)? At idle, showing about 30# but at almost 4000 rpm, showing almost 60# with a newer filter and oil change (quicksilver filter). Any idea of cause?

Both my year 2000 7.4L powered welding truck and my '07 8.1L pickup run about that with over 100,000 miles and 5-30 Mobile 1 in em. Doesn't sound like a problem to me. My rebuilt '93 4.3L V6 is just under that.

What should the oil pressure be

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,....... 10 psi per 1000 rpms is the accepted minimum,..... No problem where yer at,.....

oil pressure goes up with RPM. thats normal

You sure smartcraft was showing the error??

Now if it showed 50.7 then there is a sensor problem

Also was it a constant alarm or 2 beeps?

Constant beep. The smartgauge would show up to 60.2 with no alarm, but I did not want to push it again to see exactly where the alarm would sound.

Don't think its oil pressure

Need to go thru the SC gauge and see what's causing the beep

Hi. What’s the cooling temp showing ? Other than that being low...I’d suggest the alarm is coming from a different source...like the rpm limiter...low gear oil...
