Hi All,

I have just purchased a 19ft bowrider with a 260hp V8 MPI I/O. The boat comes standard with a 3 blade aluminium prop. I know you old heads in this forum probably get asked this question quite a few times, here goes.

The boat weighs fully laden with fuel, 6 or 7 lard *** blokes, gear etc is approx 4000 lbs. Our main use will be wakeboarding, tubing and cruising, so good hole shot is our objective without sacrificing too much top end. Basically a good comprimise.

How do the high fives go?
Can you guys recommend a prop / pitch / cup etc that will suit our needs.
Any help or knowledge would be great.
Thanks
;)

Re: High five

They'll need to know what pitch prop is on there now and the wot rpms,i think the high five can be run heigh in the water, and has good holeshots capabilitys.

Re: High five

mayoh: Ron G is right, they will want more info to give better answers.

Here's my .02. I have a 20' with the 5.0 VP 220 hp that weighs maybe a little less than yours. I switched to the H5 of the same pitch as the original 3 balde alum. My RPM's at WOT stayed the same with the H5. I don't have a GPS so I can only guess that I probably lost a couple of MPH on top. Don't spend much time there, so I really didn't care.

What I can say for sure is that the hole shot improved dramatically. I typically pull a big 3 person tube (100") with 3 large adults without a problem. The H5 runs smoother, accelerates better, and responds to throttle responses much better than the original 3 blade.

A buddy that switched to a H5 dropped pitch from a 19 to a 17 per the dealers recommendations and found himself overreving and ultimately went up in pitch to where he started. The H5 is slightly smaller in diameter to most original props (13.75 vs. 14.25) which may account for the pitch best left alone. If you are within the recommended WOT RPM range now, try one at the same pitch. If you drop below the recommended RPM range, go down in pitch by 2" and try again. Many dealers and prop shops have a loaner program (NOT E-bay).

Re: High five

I ran a 17 rapture on my boat . . . couldn't turn more than 5600 rpm tops . . . put on a 17 high five with all the PVS holes plugged and the motor turned 6400rpm. Same weight/fuel/conditions/etc. I could take hard corners at 45mph and the prop would not blowout. I'm going to be moving up to a 21 pitch soon, but I got a mirage plus 19 to try first.
