Hello

I am trying to mount my terrova trolling motor on my boat, the problem I am having is covering up the old holes from my johnson motor. Four of the existing holes are going to be visible which will look awful. Any suggestions. I have contacted minn kota and all they say they have is a quick release mount that is basically the same dimensions, so I don't think will do me any good.
Any suggestions or ideas ??

You might consider gluing down a black rubber strip the size of the mounting area. Would cover holes and act as a vibration dampener as well.

Re: Hiding the old holes when mounting my trolling motor

I am trying to upload pictures but can't seem to figure it out. The trolling motor is a bow mount 45" shaft and the mounting plate that attaches to the boat is 12.5" long. When sitting on the bow two of existing holes are about 1" from the mount and the other 2 holes are about 8" from the mount. So 4 holes can still be seen. As well as some abrasion from the old trolling motor mounting tray. The boat is a javelin fish and ski metallic blue. The holes won't be to noticable when the motor is up, but I would like to have them hid if possible.
I wish I could upload the photos so what I am trying to explain can be seen. I'll keep trying.

I'd just put a couple SS screws/trim washers/nuts in the holes, dress the holes up and make them look as good as possible.

It's kind of hard to make those holes disappear if the bracket does not cover them. Well outside of filling the hole and matching the gelcoat/paint.

I don't know what you call the caps I used, but they are the same ones used on a kitchen sink to cover the hole for the spray hose(if the sink doesn't have one). You can get the snap in kind or ones with a stud, large washer, and a wing nut. I'll look and see if I can find a link, but you should be able to get them at a plumbing supply store. They are chrome and look pretty good.

I was hoping I could find some sort of longer mount that would cover at least 2 of the holes, preferably all 4. If only 2 then maybe put decals or something over them. I thought minn kota would of had something.
Still couldn't upload a photo, even after reading the previous post.

Go to your local Mom & Pop hardware store and find the stacks of drawers with all the specialty stuff like springs, special washers, knobs, and the like. Look (or ask for) "hole plugs". You can get them in small sizes up to several inches in diameter. Paint them the color of your boat and be on your way. Probably cost about 50 cents each.
