Hey everyone. So I just bought my first boat. Its a 2004 Glastron 170SX with a J 90 HP engine.
Before I take the boat out for first time I like to do a maintenance I’m sure what that is and if something I can do or a marina shop.

Any advice or suggestion

A 2004 Johnson would likely be a 4 stroke

Make sure there is Oil in the Gearcase, if unsure of how old it is, or if water in it, changing it would be a good idea. Don't forget the washers/seals on the Drain/Fill and vent plugs.
Do you know how old the Water Pump Impeller is? If not, it should be changed as a Precaution..
Have you hear the engine running?

In 2004 they offered the SUZUKI built 4 stroke and they had the 60 degree 2 stroke as well.

Well the Pic is a 60 degree Looper 2 stroke. I had thought that BRP had gutted the larger 2 strokes from the Johnson Line by then, before they Boxed the Entire Line. One more Detail I have Forgotten over the past 15 yrs

I did turn it on and it sounds good. there was a bit of smoke at first but the owner had months that he did not used it so it seem reasonable the smoke at first.

also this engine uses gas/oil right mix?

It is a two stroke so it does use mixed gas oil. I'm pretty sure has an Oil Mixing Fuel Pump, unless some one disabled it
Think of the Smoke as Mosquito Control
