Just a quick post from a fairly new owner of a Searay 220 Sundancer. Engine was removed professionally some 9 years ago and a pod and 50hp Suzuki efi outboard fitted. What a difference in fuel economy.

And what did the retrofit cost you ? What did the boat cost if you recently bought it vs a standard engine drive set up. I don't care about fuel economy, it's a boat and that word does not have anything in common with economy . If people are going to whine about fuel and boats then maybe they should buy a canoe , kayak . Sailboat or paddle boat . Maybe the price of fuel will keep most of the newbies off the water and have them selling them at a discounted price instead, win , win

The newest sundancer 220 is a 1991

They came with a 260hp V8

While your 50hp Suzuki may get better fuel economy, not sure it has enough power to get up on plane

If it's anything similar to my 95 220 overnighter then it probably won't plane. Mine is a heavy boat...

I'm thinking there's supposed to be a 1 or a 2 in front of the 50HP cause....dang that'll be a slow, slow trip to the launch ramp otherwise...

I bought it about 12 months ago and the conversion was done about 9 years ago at a cost of 9 grand. I paid £3,500

I bought it to use on a lake so no need to go faster than the 6knot speed limit there

I think mine is a 1989 that had a 5.7 ltr engine. I bought it as it is now already converted just to cruise around Kielder Water in Northumberland and therefore not needing any speed.

I bought it to use on Kielder Water Northumberland so no need to get it on a plane as the speed limit there is about 6 knots. It's just a good looking floating caravan

It should work great for camping on the lake plus you get a bunch more storage room.

If you had the old 5.7 you probably would get busted after a few pints! Heck they hit 4 knots at idle..
I think you found a boat set up perfect for your needs..

Can anyone advise? On my 1989 Searay 220 Sundancer there is a small 10"x4" x 6"deep approx cavity with a lid on it on the floor just outside the rear bedroom which always seems to have water in it but I can't feel any hole leading into or out of it. What's it for?
