Hey you Chevy owners

Posted: 03/10/2006 02:49 pm<br />Last Updated: 03/10/2006 02:54 pm<br /><br />General Motors dealerships across the country will be busy in coming months, dealing with a large recall of pickup trucks.<br />GM is asking owners to bring 900,000 trucks in for repairs.<br /><br />The automaker says the 1999 and 2000 models of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra have problems with tailgate cables.<br /><br />They can corrode and fracture when loads are placed on them.<br /><br />GM says 84 people have been injured by the defect.<br /><br />Owners will receive recall letters next month.

Thats strange because there beeen a recall for a LONG time my 2003 has already had the cables changed ?<br /><br /><br />tommays

SBN, My '02 was also recalled last year for the cables.

Don't know fellows, just came across the wire as you can see.<br />I don't have a Chevy P/U so I don't keep up on them as I do the other ones.

I heard that and didn't know what's so unusual about tailgate cables rusting and finally failing. I thought they all did given enough time.

Hey BoatBuoy, maybe it's because of the next to last sentence in my post up there.<br />GM says 84 people have been injured by the defect.<br />

It was only the 2001 and up models before, now it is the 99-00 models.<br /><br />Ken

Hey...maybe they should have stuck with the 1/8"x1" metal bars they had with my 1991 Chevy S-10....there is no rust yet!
