It's supposed to be cold as **** tommorow. But my wife and I are desperatly wanting to see the festival of lights from the lake. Just curious if a bunch of boaters would be interested in having a meet out on the water? I was planning on launching from the bottom of Cawthra, forget the parks name, hold on, googlemapping...

Mississauga Sailing Club

It's a huge multi-ramp launch that is fairly steep (just watched a 30'+ cruiser launched yesterday there). With plenty of parking. I was just curious to see if anyone with a small cruiser might be out for people like me with bowriders to huddle up in if it get's too cold.

It's about 20minutes from Ontario Place via water (at about 15km/h). I haven't checked the wind conditions yet...but just thought I'd float the idea first. We likely won't go if we can't get a group together (for safeties sake due to the cold), or if the wind is to high. My boat has a fairly shallow freeboard so high waves can be no fun in 8 degree water.

Re: Hey Ontarians!

Currently showing a predicted 35km/h wind from the north west(inland), so the water should be pretty calm towards shore and picking up as you head outwards. They've also raised the temp by 1 degree!

Still on the fence on this one...but really want to go. ;)

The Festival of lights, is that down by Toronto Islands? That would be a great way to see it. What kind of temps are you guys getting lately?
If I still lived in Toronto, I'd give it a whirl.
Maybe some of the local Iboaters around Toronto will check in.
Good Luck:)

Re: Hey Ontarians!

High of 12 degrees, low of 5 tonight. NW winds at 30 Km/Hr. It's gonna be CoLd! But the wind is comming off shore so we should be sheltered from the waves...mostly.

We're gonna give er a go anyhow. The fireworks start at 9:30 so we should be launched about 9pm. Gonna bring some sleeping bags and our woolies to keep warm. Got the GPS all charged up for the trip back to the launch, and just double checking all my safety gear, well I will be shortly. Gonna hit bass pro to get some better (more visible) life jackets and some new sleeping bags later today (probably about 5-6pm as they close at 7). Also CTC has the large (800amp) nuatilis booster packs on sale, so gonna get one of those too...just in case. It should be a blast.

Edit: Just noticed you're in B.C....gawd I miss B.C! Lived there as a kid (north van). My aunt is still in the valley..what a place to party in the summer!!

Re: Hey Ontarians!

Well it was just us, but still a great time, not terribly cold either. We were all bundled up and got a couple of pics (need a better camera). It was a great night, and fun was had by all! A pic of the Toronto skyline at night with the CN Tower, and a quick cracker pic...there's more but I need to weed through them all...
