I know the lakes are still frozen here in minnesota, but I'm anxious to wake up my outboard. I have a project motor I want to see run. We've been staying above freezing lately (daytime), lets hope it continues.

Just curious if anyone ran their motor in a barrel yet?

Not yet, I usually drag the outboard out around April 1 and get the boat set up. Last year, the water wasn't open on the local lakes until the second week in May, so there wasn't much point.

It seems warmer this year, but it can fool ya. We could still have some nights down around zero, even in the Twin Cities.

We're getting closer, though, and a lot of guys are out on the Mississippi already. In Pool 2, you can fish anytime, since it's all catch and release for walleye, sauger, and bass. So there are boats out. It's still early, and there aren't any logs running down the river, and water levels are low, so it's pretty safe boating.

Hey, CAT.
yea, with a couple 50-60 degree days we had recently, it really felt like Spring around here. I'm going fishing in Tennessee first week of April, Can't wait!

The lakes are still full to partial ice cover here. However, the harbour is open on the big lake (Lake Ontario). Once it warms up a bit I'll be down there. At just a few degrees above freezing its still a little cold for boat. My test barrel at work still keeps freezing and thawing.

Don't know how you guys can do it, I am in extreme northern Indiana (10 minutes to Michigan line) and winter seems to last forever here.

Last time I was out was just after Thanksgiving and I am taking her out for the first trip of the year tonight, I catfish at night, suppose to be 52/32 so shouldn't be too bad.

Well good luck and I hope you make the last couple weeks.

Had all three of mine running in the barn.I am afraid it will be a while yet. The ice breaker is due up the St laurence this week. No ice in the chanel, but lots near the shore. No rain to loosen it up. Getting the itch to go over to the island.

might do it this weekend. I live in an apartment, so I need to take it to my Parents house to use a bucket or hose.

As of yesterday only the shallows and channels between lakes are clear. still have a couple more weeks.

Yep I got mine out on saturday, worked on it and started it on muffs. Hopefully this week sometime I'll get on the river. The river has been open for a few weeks now but without the dock it is kinda hard to launch alone

The muffs will be out the weekend after Easter for me. We are off to Jamaica at the end of next week.

Goddam,

I and I was feeling jealous about the Florida guys. I guess Maryland weather is quite balmy for you folks.

Back to winter here in Minnesota after a brief warm up. I may get my boat out of storage in a couple weeks. Have to clean and pack the wheel bearings. Also, I have new wheels and lights for the trailer.

I'm in Central PA I actually ran mine in the river today. After doing a bunch of changes to the boat/motor over the winter it ran great.

The three football players that died have put a damper on some of our trips as late. Since we usually run miles out into the Gulf, we really need to have a near perfect day for a 20' boat. The weather, tho not cold, still affects how and where we can go!
