What a trip is all i can say. Left late to start and after driving 500 miles noticed my new boat cover was flapping. Seam had come apart and you can imagine what it looked liked at 70 MPH x500 miles. I'm still ok at this point can always get a new cover. Got to the lake and the motor had a hissy on me. Took it in and the guy after working on it gave me a bill for 250 big ones and some fancy mechanic jargon on what he did. Saw I had Ohio tags and thought I was a tourist wtih plenty of money I guess. First few days were slow and caught a few snakes. Went to Whinny and caught a nice batch of Walleye. Finally went to Leach and went to my terminator and caught a 32in. musky. Kissed him on the head and let him go with a promise to send me his mother. Sure enough two hours later i landed a nice 43 incher. Caught a total of four, which will be able to grow some more before next year. I'm not a Bass person but I was trolling with a spinner and a leach when up from the water came an upset fish. Turns out to be a Large Mouth. Not knowing how to judge I just weighed it at 6 plus lbs. and let it go. Caught a few more of these in the 4 to 5 lb. range. They are a pretty good tasting fish. Northern picked up. Anywhere from 22 to 30 inchers. Plenty of perch, rockies were to be found to. Never did catch up with 495v. A couple of days before our hookup I slipped on the dock and instead of just falling into the water I tried to jump into my boat(big mistake)and fell breaking two ribs. Needless to say my last few days were spent nursing a bottle of Jack Daniels. All in all fishing was great and now am counting the days to my trip to lotw in Sept. That Suzuk I'm afraid is going into retirement. Any sugestions. Looking for at least a 65 to 90 horse with a good reputation. Let me know how your trip goes.

Wounded and a little hung over//

Wow, GF! Sounds like some tears and some triumph!

You had a better than average score in my book, though I would have freed the Bass in favor of more Walleye.

What part of Leech were you fishing?

Your trip to LOTW in Sept is new to me. When? Where? I have a wedding to attend in CA in early Sept, then I was going to drive up to Tacoma to do some salmon fishing with my #3 Daughter and her boys.

Then I was going to visit Yellowstone, Little BigHorn, Mt. Rushmore, The Crazy Horse Memorial and. . .maybe a last shot at LOTW for the season.

Let me know. We may hook up. :)

Re: hey JB I'm back

Good to hear from you JB
I usually go up home to shut her down for the winter on Steamboat. But this year I'm going for the monsters which LOTW is known for in Sept.
after I'm done with my chores. Don't tell my wife I told her I wouldn't be doing that much fishing. I usually land in at Warroad. If you look on the map my homstead is a little north of walker, which I tell my wife its right around the corner.
Stoney Point and Portage held the best this year. The lakes are down about 2 feet so fishing is a little strange. Sounds like you got a full agenda ahead of you. Hope to hit LOTW on the 5th.
Have to let me know on the C.H. Memorial. I was their after they started it Many years ago. Who knows maybe some year we can hook up. Really hated missing 495 V. But I'm not known for my agility. Thay have a Walleye slot in effect. 17 to 24 in. you have to let go. i6 and under you keep and your allowed one 25 inch or better. To much netting is taking its toll. Plan it right and maybe a few us can make some plans to do Leach and Whinny together.

Re: hey JB I'm back

Howdy gents, I'm finally back to work. Trip was great. Caught some nice eye's, biggest was about 26in at 6.5lbs.(slot fish turned loose) Caught alot of slots that went back but brought a bunch of 16-17incher's home. No luck on the muskies. Had a 20lb'er plus follow me in; felt like jumpin in after it. No big northern's either, just snakes. Gonefishn, sounds like you had one hell of a trip.(broken ribs not being one of them.) We'll hook up some time up there. I go up every year and have the same week scheduled for next year.
