hey elvin, let me tell you about my "new" toe-what-sue 5hp

i bought a used tohatsu 5hp short shaft for 15 dollars from bill at bills outboards in largo.<br /><br />a customer brought it in to get repaired. it doesnt turn from side to side and it doesnt tilt up or down. the motor itself is fine, has a bilt in tank and turns over freely and has strong spark. the customer didnt like the repair quote and refused to pick the motor up and wont return any of bills calls, so i got it for 15 bucks! ha!<br /><br />what do you think. im thinking maybe removing the bolts/nuts on the back side of the midsection and regreasing it in there to make it turn from side to side, or maybe just applying some heat and seeing what happens, and as for tilting up and down, im up in ears on this one... whadya think?

Mike,<br /><br />The bolt that runs throught the clamps and bracket will probably have to be replaced. Also,<br /><br />The bracket on the leg should be pulled and clean out the salt. Probably a 30 minute job from start to finish...You will need a magic hammer on that one bolt

what the price and or part number and or availability for the big bolt that runs from onr side to the other, the one i need a MGAIC HAMMEr, the one that lets it tilt?

The bolt is around $12.00 from Tohatsu. There isn't anything special about. Just pick up a SS bolt and nut that fits.
