Hey everybody. Here is a wierd one. You guys have followed me through the ever-so-enjoyable cam & lifter replacement that I just recently went through (#8 exhaust lifter & cam lobe were severely worn). Thanks for your help. Last Saturday was her maiden voyage w/ the new cam & Lifters. By the way, we're talking about a 1993 Crownline w/ 454 Bravo 1(not mag.... I don't believe at least). I pulled out of the marina and into the channel where I floor it to get it on plane. Boat powers up to approx. 2500rpm and holds this rpm. Feels like it doesn't have the power to get up on plane, until finally it slowly creeps up on plane and remains sluggish. Please note that as I'm trying to get on plane, there is no popping or backfiring - just the engine holding that constant RPM. Approx. 5 minutes pass at cruising speed when I stop so the lady can use the "restroom". I try to get back on plane again, and it just wouldn't do it. Put the tabs down, the drive down, and she refused to get on plane. Approx 5 minutes of trying this (intermittantly) I get her on plane and off we go. Running at cruising speed for about 25 minutes and I stop again. The next time I floor it to get up on plane, the RPM's shoot up, the boat hops on plane like new, and I'm having no problems at all. I try it again, and still no problems. What on earth would cause this? The boat warmed up for approx. 10 minutes in the marina before I headed out into the river. I've been told that it was too cold and needed to warm up longer, or that the cam & lifters were still breaking in. It felt like a timing issue at first, but she ran like a champ the latter part of the day. I shouldn't be complaining, but I'd certainly like to know what happened!

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys, and be safe!
Todd
