2014 Yam115 4stroke.
The aftermarket Sierra developed a pin hole leak and saturated the lower half of the motor, including the starter.
Went to change the filter and clean the oil.
Took the starter and all the electrical connections apart and reassembled everything.
Went to start it and huge sparks come out of the starter, took it to the local starter/alternator shop, they said it was broken inside(not).
It acted like the battery was low(nope) and would just set and chatter when the key was turned.
Fixed things and thought it was taken care of.
Then the new starter did the same thing.
Turns out the 3 bolts that were grounding the starter/system weren't enough and contact wasn't being made by the 3 bolts.
I made a grounding cable, added it to the bottom bolt and it did the trick, started right up.
