help!!!

ok i just got a 94 tracker and im haveing one problem with my 1994 90 hp evinrude...ok so i put it in today got out a little ways with my trolling motor and it was about 35ft deep and the propeller was barely hitting the water while it was all the way down and it was tilted way up and it would just shoot out water back plz help!!!!

Kinda sounds like the tilt lock lever was unlatched......??
