HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here it is, I have an outboard that I can't find any info on. It's a "mercury four", 4 cyl., serial #1717689, carb is Kiekhaefer model 4D-4, housing is black with white stripe and black lettering,tag on block say's "full jeweled Super Thunderbolt". There isn't a starter on the motor so I don't even know if it runs [I'd never be able to turn it over pulling]. What I'm looking for is any info about it that I can find, what h.p. it is, where can I get a manual for it, where to find parts... I have a 15' speedliner I'd like to put it on but don't know what I'm doing! I tried Merc's site but it was no help at all. Any help would be great, thanks!!

Can't really help but a couple of things Kiekhaefer is the name of the person that starter mercury marina way back when, so it's merc carbs. To hand crank, if it has a notched flywheel, wrap rope around flywheel and try pull starting with one or two of the spark plugs out the engine. If it starts it will run rough, but at least you will know if it is worth mess with.

Just from the information you gave, I can tell you this... I know from the color it is pre-1972 model. From the serial number you gave and its a four cylinder its one of the following. 1964 50HP or 65HP. My guess its a 50 but I am guessing only.<br /> <br />Heck I could be totally wrong?? More information....
