Do you have a 6 point (sided) socket that will fit the plug? If so, even if the plug flats are marred up, drive the socket on with a hammer. It'll most likely center itself. The jarring will also help collapse the sealing gasket and help loosen it. Then use a tee bar or large ratchet and remove the puppy.
If it still is tight, slide a piece of pipe or a deep socket that will just make it over the insulator and bottom on the plug's steel Body. Give it a few good raps with a hammer to compress the plug gasket and break the marriage between threads. Then try the above once again.
Last of all, heat the plug body with a torch and try again using a pipe wrench if flats are truely stripped.....

Good luck.... :)

Howdy, Emwachtel.

Schematic's suggestions ought to work.

If they don't, take it to a tire shop (yep, tire shop) and ask them to put a pneumatic torque wrench on it. If that doesn't work, you need a new or used replacement head.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

emw,

Not sure from your post if the plug is stuck tight or turns without coming out.

If it's stuck tight, follow Schematic's advice. Might want to heat heat the plug GENTLY with a propane torch-steel and aluminum expand at different rates-that might loosen it.

If it turns and won't come out. You have to take the head off and get the bad threads helicoiled. I do NOT recommend doing this with the head "on".

Still curious is the plug turning or is it tight turning, Like everyone has suggested heat it gently if it wont turn, if it is spinning then go and have someone remove the head and repair it. If you have the plug stuck ( wont turn) heat it gently then heat around the head area of the plug using your 6 point socket try cranking it out, STOP, spray WD 40 then crank it back IN. Crank it out and in until its free this ALLWAYS works for me and avoids MANY headaches..

IS THIS A FICHT MOTOR.IF SO I WOULD BE CAREFUL ABOUT USING A TORCHE NEXT TO THE INJECTOR. ALSO DEPENDING ON WHICH H.P. IT IS YOU COULD HAVE O'RINGS FOR HEAD GASKETS,DON;T THINK YOU COULD HEAT ENOUGH WITH TORCHE TO HURT THEM OR ATLEAST NOT WITH OUT HURTING MORE THAN THE O'RINGS ANYWAY BUT STILL SOMETHING TO CONSIDER.

Try using a metric socket and tapping it on be careful and take your time. Anyone use the copper lube for the plugs?

IS THIS A SIMPLE CASE OF ACCIDENTALLY TIGHTENING THE PLUG AS IN TURNING YOUR TOOL IN THE WRONG DIRECTION?
