I have a 88 2000sc Maxum with a 5.0/alpha one, it currently has a 14.5" / 19" pitch on it. I used http://www.turningpointpropellers.com/ prop selection guide, but it tells me the same thing for both the 5.0 which it has, and the 5.7 I am putting in it.

Either a 14.25/19 pitch for skiing and heavy loads
or
14.25/21 for speed

I live at 5000 feet elevation and I have no idea how the current prop works due to a cracked block on the boat, hence putting in the 5.7L. But, I do not want to over rev the new engine and damage it.

Any ideas?

ok, were all broken in. I was hitting 4800 with a 19" pitch prop @ 4800 but did not try to see if it would go any higher. That was a Michigan 14.25x19, 3 blades and pushed me about 47/48mph.

I barrowed a co workers prop it is labeled 14.3 x21 pitch, 3 blades. It dropped my rpm's to 4500 and I am hitting 50mph.

full tank of fuel, coolers, fishing gear and 2 people. That is how it will be used 90% of the time.

GPS speed verified and the tach was checked with another tach.

currently both props push the boat right up on the water with out much effort. Would I see any benifit from switching to a 3 or 4 blade SS?
