I am trying to obtain the proper schematics and part numbers for rebuilding my 2004 model year outdrive. The outdrive is powered by a VP 5.0L GL-D engine.
The plate on the upper gear housing reads:

Product No. 3868891
Type: SX-M1 Ratio 6.0
Serial Number: 4202088820

I'm not sure if I'm reading the numbers correctly but that's what I see with a wiped clean plate and magnifying glass. A google search of my product number indicates that there is a replacement, drive number 3869338.
I have gone to 'xyz's website' and found outdrive information that has listings such as SX-M1, SX-M1 1.60, etc. These schematics appear to have come directly from a Volvo Penta parts catalog (7746030-44- ). (Is that parts catalog something I can buy and, if so, from whom?). I cannot find a listing that says SX-M1 6.0 so I'm wondering if this really means listing SX-M1 1.60??

The drive unit is still attached and whole, i.e. not removed and disassembled yet. Schematics indicate that my outdrive has either a 1" water inlet - which would correspond to the Early Version Transom Shield, or a 1.25" water inlet which corresponds to the Later Version Transom Shield. Can I sort it out via the product no, type and s/n information? If so, how?
It is not likely that I will be able to obtain any help with this project, nor can I afford to send the boat to the dealer for servicing so I am asking for help here. Polite and useful responses are appreciated.

I believe it is an sx-m1 drive with a 1.60:1 ratio.
