Help with newly acquired Merc 228

Does anyone know what year this engine is so I can order a manual and parts? Mercruiser 228 SN: 6726573 Also, I've found A wire that appears to have been cut or damaged. I believe this is part of the starter solenoid? It is the wire that is color coded purple. Hopefully you can see it.Cut/Damaged wire

looks like a GM 305 8 1982-1984 sn: 6218462-OB525981 <br /><br />Can't see your picture.

Look at your hull ID # usually stamped in the stern. The last 2 digits identify the year of manufacture.<br /><br />Bob
