the othefr day I hit a stump floating at the water line about 3" in dia and 10' long.
the engine still runs fine, I cannot find a scratch on it, I also checked the propr hub, everything looks goood and operaties good.
However my speedo will not pass 30 MPH, before this I was getting speeds up to 48 at WOT.
the engine is a 2011 Mercury Optimak 2 stroke 75 hp with 40 hours on it.

From tracking the line from the speedo it runs in front of the engine and into a small 90 deg fitting

any ideas would be great

Thanks

What is your engine s/n?

Odds are you might just have to disconnect the speedo line and blow air out through the intake to clear the debris from impact.

Speedo's are know to be widley inaccurate. it would be surprizing if that motor actually went 48MPH. Depending on the boat size and type you are probably in the 32-38MPH range.... Do you have a tachmometer or GPS?
