Last fall I broke up my trim tab taking of the panel wo work on speaker wire. I just ordered a new on amazon. The connectors on the new switch are not the same as the wires that were connected to the old one. I am lost here and sure would appreciate some advice on how to proceed. It is the only item I need to complete to get in the water! I hope the attached photos help.

Thanks,

Brian in MI

In one picture you have a switch panel with 2 broken Carling switches. In the other 3 pictures you have 2 Carling switches with a wiring harness and your broken switches

Either your boat has that sub-harness or it doesn't

Based on the pictures you do not have the sub-harness

So pull the harness off the new switches and transfer one wire at a time.

Yes no help from them! All they did was send me a wiring schematic. It looks I will have to cut off the old connectors and splice the new switch in.
The wiring schematic is all the help you need

If you do not understand the wiring schematic or how to proceed. Then open your wallet to pay someone who does

No sir I intend on splicing it in with heat shrink connectors. Thanks for the reply.

Well guys I am stuck! I connected wire to wire and now only the starboard trim tab is working! What could cause this? I am not sure how to proceed!

Thanks,
Brian

A bad actuator..... swap connectors to see if it works
I think it is something with the wires because I hooked up 12 volt directly to the port wires and it worked. I am quite lost at the moment. Something is different with this new switch. When I snipped off the power connector on the new one it used the pink wire one the starboard side and black on the port. When I hooked it it that way only the starboard side would work. So then I changed the power wires to the white and black then I had no power to either side. Please help someone!

Thanks,
Brian

Did you move the wires from terminal 1 of old switch to terminal 1 of the new switch? The terminals are labeled

I'm confused. From the pictures, it does not look like switches are wired exactly the same.

Thanks for the reply! They are not! On the port side the black wire (Power) comes it comes out of 3rd pin down on the old harness. The new switch is the second pit down. On the starboard side the white to power comes out 3 pins down. The new one is 2 down. So this is sure confusing!

Lenco tech insists the new switch is not wired properly. Zoro Marine (Great Service) is sending me a new one. We shall see if the next one is right.

Well the good news is the switch is working the bad news is the starboard switch moves the tab down when I hit up. It appears something is not right with the wiring. The problem is I put the panel back in and had a very difficult time getting back in because the switch had very little room. I do not want to take it out again. There is plenty of wire at the stern by the port actuator so I want to just cut it then switch and splice the wires. I am asking if this will work? It is comical but I am determined to get this right!
Thanks again,
Brian
