Help with mounting my transducer

Hi Folks,

First I want to say thank you for reading my post. I'm looking for some help on transducer mounting. I've mounted them before, so the actual mounting isn't the problem, it's the right spot on the transom to mount it. I had a Helix and I already had to replace 2 transducers because they came off. I just bought a Solix and spent quite a bit, so I don't want to throw more money away by having to replace the transducer over and over.

Can someone take a look at the pics and let me know where the best spot is to install the transducer so it doesn't get ripped off at high speeds?

Thank you in advance for your time.

What happened to your transducers?
Never damaged one in all my years of boating.

What transducer are you mounting? There are a number that fit your unit.

Only comment at this point.....don't like how or where your plate is oriented.

Too far from center of prop..........appears to protrude below the bottom of the hull at some points

Welcome to iboats.

Sorry, but this won't sound too good.
Don't mean to offend.

Agree with location of mount plate.
The bottom edge should be parallel to bottom of hull, about 1/4" above bottom.

Best location for transducer would be 6" to the right of the chine.

How fast are you going?
I know many many boaters, running at speeds of 50-80 mph, never heard of ripping transducers off without hitting a solid object.

No offense taken at all. The first one may have ripped off by hitting something, but this one was off when I came out of the water on Monday and I really think I didn't hit anything (Didn't run it long and ran in very deep water), but you never know. I did some research and it said that on step hulls (which I think this is) if it is placed by the step it can rip off at high speeds. That was the main reason for my assumption. The transducers are for an old Helix 5 (2015 SI model) I need to go research to find the exact model.

Thank you for the welcome and thank you for setting me straight that it is likely that I hit something. It was my wife driving so it is all her fault :). She was pushing about 50/55.

I had to go look up some picks of for the chine (Rookie when it comes to boat anatomy). Does this articulate where I should put the plate/Transducer?

Thank you, I appreciate the input and yes, all her fault (especially since she read this and gave me a slap). BTW, My wife is from Hancock County Mississippi and here sister dated Brett Favre back when they were in high school LOL. Thought that would be cool for a packers fan, LOL!

I’m not seeing a stepped hull. Looks like your typical deep V to me.

Your mounting plate is way too far off the center line of the hull. It should be roughly the length of the board closer to the center line and parallel to the deadrIse

My side viewing transducer is roughly 6” off the prop. Has to be that close for side viewing to pass between the hull and the lower unit.

Most transducers have a “kick up” feature to allow the transducer to flip up if you hit something.
Was your old transducer equipped with this feature?

The face of the transducer should be roughly 1/8” below the hull.
