Total shot in the dark, but maybe here..
http://www.palmbeachpower.com/parts.html

Worst case scenario, there is always the possibility of cutting your own gaskets... Blank sheets of various gasket materials are available..

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.. :)

Re: HELP with Diesel

Go to your nearest Detroit Diesel Dealer or ask at your Kenworth Truck Distributor for guidance.
Sounds to me you have a 3-71 "LOW BLOCK" engine.
All the current parts will fit your engine without any major modification.
If it is a Low Block you have a one piece Head Gasket that covers all 3 cylinders with a paper gasket about 3/4" wide around the perimeter of the block to act as an oil fence.
The later "High Block" engine has individual fire ring gaskets on the top of each Cyl liner with rubber seals for all the water and oil passages.
It may be a "Gray Marine" cooling system on the engine but your distributor should be able to find the parts you need. Tell him to look in the OLD PRINTED PARTS CATALOG and keep away from the computor and CD Rom system. Dont talk to the youngest kid there, you'll probably get some strange looks back.
If you get the opportunity lift the rocker cover and check the injectors. probably they are HV6's or similar (Dribble tips).
If so talk your uncle into discarding those and get all the rocker gear and injection parts from a later truck engine and retro fit those into his engine.
It will start easier with N60 or N65 offset body and better fuel economy as well.
Have fun :)

Peter

Re: HELP with Diesel

Call L&R Diesel. Randy is good with the old Detroit engines and he knows marine applications as well. I think he might even be in Langley (or Surrey, or Whalley - heck, it's all the same.)

Re: HELP with Diesel

hey air man you gat a number for L&R and please dont class Langley with Surrey especially Whally
that hurts.
Trying to find some one with knowledge about these old motors is easy untill you ask them a question. then its do you have a serial #? NO its sixty years old.
The parts I am looking for are for the closed cooling system she has a leaky park its making quite the mess

Re: HELP with Diesel

Hi yardarm,
Sounds as if you have found the "dumb looks and stupid questions are free" syndrome without much help.
Tell the parts guy he doesn't need a serial number or model number. You gave it to him:
A 3-71 Low Block GM Diesel.
Like I said get the oldest guy there and find the old printed parts catalog and you will be able to get some part numbers.

Good luck

Peter

Re: HELP with Diesel

Hi yardarm.
Yes that is all the info they will need. The serial # will also be stamped on the front side of the block usually the side the blower is on.
Call your warehouse, they will be able to get you the parts you need. Pretty much everything is stil avaiable even for the 'old girls'

Good luck,

Peter
