Hi New to the forum... I have a question about a Rowboat that has been in the family. I need to get it registered with NY state in order to put an outboard motor on it for a private lake.

The boat is an aluminum rowboat. The only information I see on the boat is the coast guard tag on the inside rear of the boat. The manufacturer is APPLEBY MFG CO. LEBANON, MO. MODEL: 12LF I have no clue what year it is and I don't know what the Hull ID number is. This is the info I need for the DMV paperwork. I also have a 4.5 hp outboard for the boat. Does it even have a hull id number? Please any information will be greatly appreciated. I would like to have it in the water within the next couple of weeks. THANK YOU

Re: Help with an Aluminum Rowboat PLEASE!

Only the NYS DMV knows the answer. Call them and get the required procedure.

Hi, While going through some paperwork today I found the bill of sale from when the boat was purchased. It is a Appleby Richline

I think it has a hull number but not sure what it means or if it has the right amount of numbers..

It is. APBG029M74A

Would anyone be able to help me with the information of this number? Is it even the correct amount of numbers. The bill of sale is dated 7-17-1975

Look all over the back end of the boat for that number to be stamped in.

Usually right hand side just below the transom cap on the back. Sometimes on a metal plate riveted to the hull.
You do need to find where the number is on the hull.

Having the original bill of sale is going to be handy.
Assuming the rules are similar to here, that and a statement its never been used with a motor before should keep you from having to pay back registration fees but make getting the title processed relatively painless.
Different states do have different rules.... so you will need to talk with the appropriate agency.

Well... then with the bill of sale ... get the agency to arrange for an inspection to verify that no number can be found.

They may pull out the number punches and punch the number into the hull for you.

I am mistaken. I checked again and found the number! Thank you for the advice!

APB G0292M74A

There most certainly was a number missing off the bill of sale!
