hello there :) <br /><br />i am trying to add a trailer harnes( the simple flat 4 wire style) to my 1985 toyota pickup. its just the cheepo 2 weel drive version, no extras at all( damn its cheap!! )<br /><br />i have the wire harnes, and the "T" style wire crimps so that i dont need to cut any wires. how do i know by looking at the trucks wires wich one is wich.<br /><br />i have green with 1 red dot, green with 2 red dots, red with white stripes, white with black stripes,black with white stripes....<br /><br />how od i tell which is which, or is it just trial and error....????

The kits by Hoppi for most trucks would be your best choice. They plug in into the rear lights behind the plastic coverings. No cuttiing, etc...<br /><br />I wired my truck the first tiime and then ended up having light issues. Thats why I thought Hoppi worked out so well.<br /><br />Searun1

pull the taillights out and see what color wire goes where.

Get a 12-volt tester, cheap little thing looks like a pen with a sharp point and an alligator-clip lead to connect to ground. Clip the ground lead to the frame and stick the point thru the insulation on one wire at a time with headlights, then brakes then turn signals on, and see which one lights up the tester. You'll figure it out in no time.<br /><br />Unless your truck has amber turn signals separate from the brake lights in which case you need some kind of adapter thingy.

you need a light converter and if the "t" style wire crimps you are talking about are scotch locks throw them away they are more of a headache than they are worth
