I have a 2006 Bayliner 185 with a 3.0 and 2 barrel carb. I think I must have got a load of bad gas because my fuel filter was clogged with crap. So I change the little mesh filter in the carb and installed a water seperating filter and just to be safe a see through inline filter.

Run for awhile and bamb it stalls out again. So now I think there must be either a filter in the fuel tank or a screen on the fuel pick up tube.

So I decide to take off the flange from the tank to the pick up tool to check and drain the tank.

So here is where I need your help. How do I get that flange off. No way I can budge it with the special wrench I got to fit it - its so tight I am affraid that I will tear it out of the fiberglass.

My questions are as follows:

1. How do I get this flange off?
2. If I can't - do I need to - is there a filter or screen in the tank?
3. If I can what is the best way to drain the tank?

Any help would be much apperciated

Ayuh,.....

What Flange,..??..?? Got a Picture,..??..??

You should be able to Unscrew the "Out" Fitting of the Tank,+ the pickup tube should come with it......

Maybe it is not called a flange?? Its a silver colored angled metal piece that is threaded into the tank. It connects to a rubber fuel hose that goes to the fuel pump.

It might be worth running from a small gas can first to see if the problem goes away. If it runs ok then you will know it is something in the tank plumbing.
