My buddy and I have a 24 volt 70lb Riptide, several weeks ago while pulling up the motor the power cable got pinched and cut. (Just the plastic coating but wires were exposed) We separated the two wires and separately wrapped the wires in electrical tape. The motor worked fine for about 4 weeks, then while trolling the top speeds stopped working. We untied the splice and found that the wires appeared to have gotten wet because they looked like they were burnt. We cut out the "hot spot" and used an electrical connector to resplice wires but it will only run on one "low" speed. Do we need to replace the whole power cable or could it be something else? I read in another post to do a load check on the batteries. Any advice here would be much appreciated.

It was the motor control switch. $15 fix in case anyone else ever gets stuck with one speed.
