This is about a 1993 9.9 remote start Johnson with additional manual starter model #J10EETM.
I took the engine apart in November for a complete rebuild and with the cold in my garage I let it drag along. Finally today I put the finishing touch to the rebuild and reassembled almost completely. Now I am staring at some wiring that I completely forgot where it goes.It has 2 wires that are yellow with a red stripe going to a small plug.this plugs into a plug with 2 wires one black and the other black with a green (yellowish?)stripe and these wires go to a switch with a small push button on the end.The switch is mounted on a shiny metal bracket.(I suspect that it is a kill switch )
What does it do and where do I install it on the engine???I cannot find it in the service manual.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Rolmops.

Dang rolmops....been scratching my head and looking at parts breakdowns for 20 minutes.

The only switch on a shiny bracket that I know of is on earlier 9.9/15's....start in neutral switch.

Yellow with red stripe usually goes to the starter solenoid.

Kill switch is on the end of the tiller handle on the 93's....if the tiller handle is still on the engine....but the kill switch don't have a shiney bracket.

The model number indicates this was an electric start tiller. The remote kit must have been added on later.

Man...right now I'm at a loss. Maybe one of the other guys will jump in here. I'll take a look tomorrow at the shop and see what I can find.

Hello OBJ.
Thanks for the help you gave me.You reminded me that a manual only goes that far and then you are on your own.Your comment about the neutral start switch helped me think out of the box and made me look at the engine with a different attitude. It only took a few minutes of creative thinking to realize that the previous owner had improvised and cannibalized from other older engines and the engine is not a Johnson, but a Johnsonstein (as in frankenstein).
I put everything in the most probable places and started her up and she works!
Thanks again for kicking my brain into thinking mode!!
