Help! What year is my Mercury

I have a 20hp Mercury (SN 5510190) What year is it? I think I need a new power pack. It is taking me 15+ pulls to get it started, but after it is warm, it cranks on the first pull. Any comments?

Yes, I make sure it is primed and choked, but it acts like it is not firing and then suddenly it will fire and crank-- I'm thinking power pack?<br /><br />Thanks for the link>

Hmmm. Ignition does not have a soul. If it is not working, it is because something is preventing it. Check your on/off switch. And still - even if you prime and choke - is your choke working properly? Do you prime till hard +3 squeezes?

Yea, the choke is working fine and the kill switch is functional (it doesn't have an on/off switch, just a kill button) I took the carb of and throuroughly cleaned it and reassembled with all new gaskets, etc. It run better now, once it cranks and warms up. I guess it is just "cold natured"
