Help Using a Tow Ring

I have a ski/fish with a tow ring (circle with metal post in middle). Can someone describe to proper way to secure a tow rope to the ring? The rope has the factory loop on the end.

Stick the rope in through the center, wrap it under the ring and secure the end on the hook

I drop the loop end of the rope down behind the ring from the top. Pull it out from below, and then put the loop over the center post.

I'm guessing that any way you want to tie it on there will be fine as long as it won't fall off!
