 I have a 88 Bayliner Trophy Bass.My front casting deck is rotted. It has been replaced before by another owner. Who used 3/4 inch reg. plywood. The old owner also used way too much ply wood in the front. He doubled lined the compartments etc. (complete overkill). Now its all water logged and way to heavy, on the front. I want to go back fresh as lite as possible. What options do i have? Will 1/2 inch work? I want to keep the cost down too. Help Please :)

i'd use only 1/2 in. doug fir exterior ply ab grade.. home centers don't carry it but any lumber yard can order it in a week..

coat both sides two coats of 'thin' epoxy.. with a thin foam roller.. top side lay down some 6/7 oz fiberglass ' E'grade ( epoxy grade ) cloth..for wear & tear..

easy to do ... lay down cloth,, an foam roller the epoxy on the cloth until translucent.. take a common squeege an 'swipe' out any air pockets...

it'll end/come out like canvas .. which is a good thing... anti slip... wait a few days ,, sand off shine,, wash down with 50/50 ammonia an water combo.. to remove any wax ... paint with interlux top side paint.. no primer needed or wanted..

must paint .. epoxy's worst enemy,, the sun..

make sure you coat the sides extra good..

mix some epoxy with fillers to make putty to 'blend' deck to hull sides..

can get all suplies at any marine center..
