HELP.. question regarding shift/throttle controls

I have a 1997 Evinrude four stroke 15hp tiller that I wish to convert to console. I have the steering figured out but I need help figuring out what I'm gonna do about the throttle/shift controls..

Since my motor doesn't have electric start or tilt/trim, can I just buy an OMC evinrude control box with cables off ebay and hook up the throttle/shift cables and then just jerry-rig a kill switch? Will that work?

PLEASE help me, I just want to get on the lake

yes. i know a guy with a 30 gorse manual start converted to remote steering/throttle. smaller boat so he has to reach behind him to pull start the bad boy, rewired the kill switch to be by the control box.
