I have been searchign all night, None of the other symptoms really matchmy problem, Just bought a 1995 Glastron 195 SSV with the 3.0 volvo Penta inboard, I had it out on the lake today for the first time and having a heck of a good time, running 3/4 to clost to full throttle most of the trip. Slowed down took a corner and Pop. pop. pop.pop everything still running good, oil pressure good, but load popping noise from the engine compartment. Stopped the boat opened the lid, No smoke no smells, no oil everything loked ok. Checked the plug wires, two of them have the connectors loose, but when tightened them upthe noise was still there. Engine still ran well.

I have read on hear about valve stcking, I don't think that is what my problem is, Also it happeneds at all rpms. I noticed a bolt on the floor of the engine compartment looked around and the only place I see a missing bolt is the top of the engine on I think the exaust manifold, but bolt feels very tight and I could hand crank it into the spot. Does this soud like an exhaust leak or do i have major problems.

Please, I need some help.

im asuming you mean the riser that comes off the intake/exhaust manifold. i'd recomend removing the riser, replace the gaskets (2) between the riser and the manifold, and also check the rubber coupling between the riser and the downpipe, very well could have worn a hole through causing some noise which will sound poppy.

Thanks

I have no clue were this stuff is, but I am searching for some info right now, I have to say this Popping sound in very loud, only sounds like one cylinder though. Anyone with any other suggestions. What does a dead spark plug in one of these engines sound like??/

usually not like what your describing.

the riser is an elbow looking metal piece, usually the highest piece on the engine. the 2 gaskets i speak of are between there and the intake/exhaust part of the motor (the carb attaches to this piece) and the downpipe is the large pipe that goes towards the bottom of the boat from the riser (big elbow)
