Help please Oil coming out of spark plug holes???

I just bought a used boat and had it kill today, I ran two tanks of gas through it, it missed a little, and today it quit, I took the cover off and oil is seeping out of the spark plug holes?? Is the motor shot, what are the possibilities. Thanks for the help

Sounds like you have other issues besides just some weeping from the plugs.<br /><br />An oily ooze around the base of the threads could be from reusing the spark plug gasket/washer, loose spark plugs, or thread inserts that just leak. Not really a big deal.

buckfawn,Welcome to iboats,If you expect to get any assistance in troubleshooting your problem you need to tell us what make ,horsepower , year,and model number engine you speak of.454 chevy inboard,5.5 hp eska ,Honda 4 stroke?

I forgot to mention.......<br /><br />If the motor is also "new" as the boat, it should have a warranty. I'd take it in and have the dealer correct it.

Let's start with the basics.Are you mixing 50:1 with TCW3 oil ?What do the sparkplugs look like?are they the recommended champion?Insure that your fuel tank is venting properly.If not your fuel pump can't draw freely from it.Check for fuel leaks from tank to carbureators.Inspect fuel filter for blockage.As mentioned above,Have you checked to see if the sparkplugs were simply loose and not torqued?
