What yr? Coil, switchbox, points if it has them, spark plug leads. Check these, and Good Luck. Keep me posted.

RR01

I think it is a 1975 model. Had the coil checked and it's good. I am thinking the switchbox is bad because when it went down it was like it dropped a cylinder at a time. Is there any place online I could maybe get one? A new one is around $300

Re: help on 65 horse mercury no fire

Don't make the same mistake I did.I bought a motor that was not firing and was told it needed a switchbox,I checked a few things and thought"well I'll put in the switchbox"that was a $240.00 mistake. All that it was wrong was naked wires in the control box.the cable going to the controls was rotten.I didn't check this at first because it would turn over the motor when you hit the switch and the choke button worked, but when I opened up the control box I just stood there and wondered how in the world did this thing work in this bad of shape. If you haven't checked this now!One grounded(naked) wire is all it takes

Got the problem fixed. Put in a used switchbox and runs like a new one. Thanks for all the input.
