1984 OMC 305 chevy. Have rebuilt the carb, new rotor, cap, plugs and plug wires. Idles great, starts right up...better than ever. When accelarating it bogs and backfires. Any suggestions?

yes it has points and condenser which have been replaced, i have checked the points plate and weights and they are fine. The choke....thats not something i thought of. Spark plugs are all fouling/wet. Thank you eveyone for your help, i am new to all of this and just trying to get it running. I'm willing to try anything that will help.

I have a 1993 four winns with a 5.0L HO and it backfires in the carb when you accelerate wont run full throttle without it bogging. I agusted the lean and rich screws on the carb and never backfired again but still wouldnt run full throttle. took it in and they found out that there is a filter in the gas tank that was pluged so it wasent getting all of its fuel. Went and put it in the water and it started up good and went to give it full throttle and did the same thing so i put it in the harbor and was going to take it out and take it back and it wouldnt start it wouldnt even turn over so i checked the oil and it was 1 inch over the safe line. Found out the the exaust flappers were bad and got water in the block so the pistons couldnt turn over so it was stuck.

Sounds like a shift interupter (ESA= electronic shift assist) look where the shift cables connect, you'll see a little switch if you go in gear it should hop up on the high side then drop back in v grove, if it stays up the whole time your shift cables need adjusted. If it does stay up try to center the roller arm on the switch back into the center Grove should run right if you hold the rocker in the middle.
