Re: help, no spark on omc 3.0l i/o
open the dizzy cap up, and lightly sand the points, have someone turn the motor over are the points making contact, check the rotor, that making contact inside the dizzy, are the contacts clean?
Close the dizzy up, make sure the center plug on the dizzy is in good and all the other wires.
Now try to start the boat, still no spark?
Look to the top of the forum page, see " Adults only " click on it bring up the how to start a carbed motor and read that post.
Me i would sprinkle a little gas in the carb a few table spoons full, not alot and keep your face away from the carb and try to start it.
Still no spark??
You can jump the coil from the battery straight for a test but you got to be careful.
You can melt the points or weld them together if you leave straight power to the coil, this is just for testing.
You can also destroy the coil.
With someone at the switch you jump the coil with a heavy duty wire. Let them try to start the boat and when you remove the jumper wire does the boat still run?
