Just came across this Seamaid 14' aluminum v-hull boat and I'm needing info to help with registration. The only numbers, identification or labels on the boat is a red factory label which says: Seamaid Fine Boats, Model AL14363, No. 16122, Max H/P 35, Seamaid Mfg. Co. Inc., Kendallville, Indiana. There is no HIN on transom, so I figure it is pre 1972.

I would very much appreciate if anyone has any info on this model, mfg. year, or any thing else you could provide. This may be a restoration project if I can get anymore details. Tried google and haven't had any luck. Thanks.

Welcome aboard.

Where are you located and did you get any paperwork?

Check with your registration authority, typically DMV/BMV but could be Department of Wildlife/Fish & Game, to determine what they require of you to register the boat. IF it has registration numbers on the side already in your current state, they *might* be willing to work with you to get it registered.

Without paperwork though you more than likely have a yard planter.

You've actually got most all of the information you can get. If any of the previous owners had it registered in the United States, you should find some remnants of registration numbers up on the bow. But in many states a boat that size without a motor doesn't need to be registered, so there may not be any previous registration.

There's a little about Seamaid boats HERE.

Welcome aboard.

Located in TN and there was no registration card or trailer title. I found it grown up in weed, bushes, and briars and got it for taking it off. Boat had been sitting for several years unused, maybe around 15 - 20 years. The boat has no outboard motor and has been modified somewhere down the years with wood flooring, carpet, small platform at bow with mounted trolling motor (non-working), two wood bench seats with mounted swivel seats. All of which are rotted and deteriorated pass use.

The man I got boat from had never used or registered boat, it was trade several years ago. I got boat registration number off side of boat and called TWRA and their last registration record lists the boat as a 1978 Starcraft jon boat, but it definitely has the red Seamaid label (pic) and Seamaid nameplates on each side of boat.

I just thought boat maybe worth salvaging and getting back to working order and I was just searching for proper identity. TWRA said I could apply for HIN and classify as pre 1972 and as homemade boat in order to get a HIN for registration.

Maybe I can get some pics of boat and upload them later today, so it will help someone identify.

Thanks.
