Hi Guys,

I just finished up replacing my water pump in my lower unit of my Alpha one. I hooked up the muffs and started up the boat engine and noticed i have water squirting out from underneath the nut closest to the transom. This nut is used to secure the upper and lower unit and is directly below the forward reverse shifter. I was sure that I replaced all the gaskets when doing the job. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Not knowing what year your Alpha is; If your leaking water between the upper and lower halfs of the drive you need to remove the lower half again because you didn't line up the pickup or seal correctly, or you left it out.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Yes, the copper tube feeds the water from the impeller,....

Just so's ya know,...
Everything inside the cavity behind that nut is Wet, when runnin',...
The exhausted water flows out through that area, on it's way to the prop,.....

I'm thinkin' ya don't have a Problem,... Is the motor coolin' properly,..??

Thanks Bondo-o I was not seeing the forest for the trees with him saying squirting water. Could have sent the OP into an expense not needed.

There is no seal between the upper and lower unit. Just the little quad ring for the lube.

Thanks guys for all the discussion on this. I did verify that the water leaking was not warm or had not traveled through the engine yet. I guess there is a grommet that meets the top of the copper tube is my understanding? I was going to pull it apart again and see if that was intact.
