Ok here is the situation
I replaced my 888 with a 233 (both fords 302 to 351)
stayed with the 888 outdrive.
Took apart outdrive to replace impeller and when I was putting it back together the shifting pin? ( where the lower shift cable hooks to) moved
Does anyone have pic of how this is supposed to look? Please help wife is getting tired of looking at boat in the yard wants to gout but rather not row home.

Re: help- lower unit

Put the helm in foreward......
For the lower to upper.....
Turn the shift shaft clockwise while turning the prop counter clockwise until it locks.....
The intermediate shift shaft should be pointing straight foreward......
Maintain light pressure on the prop to insure it stays locked in gear, (I use a bungee).......
Don't forget to use new gaskets, especially the small gasket at the gear oil passage where the lower & upper halves meet......;)
