Help, Lost fire to both cylinders

I have got a '68 Evinrude 50hp (2 stroke) that was running great until this last weekend. I was out on the lake, shut it down, turned off the ignition, and moved some kids around on the tube and when I went to start it back up, nothing. It does turn over but I am getting absolutely no fire from either plug. It has two coils so i can't believe that both went out at once. I checked the fuse and it's good; I am even getting voltage that far into the system. The capacitor did have some bare spots on the wires that looked as though they have been shorting out so I replaced it with a new one, still no fire. Can anyone give me some ideas as to what it might be, and some things to check before just randomly replacing electrical components? I learned my lesson from the capasitor ($40). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, I there isn't awhole lot of electronics on a '68 to go wrong. If the magneto fails, that would cause a no spark on all pistons. Strange to just conk out after running fine previously.

Silly question, did you accidently bump the throttle into gear? It wont start then. Try putting the lever in and out of foward and reverse and try to start, your linkage may be a bit stretched causing it to see an "in gear" situation.
That's all I got.

Hey Tony H...The only silly question is a question not asked! I did check to make sure that it was not in gear though, not the problem. Guess I will see if I can check the magneto and see if that is the problem. If anyone else has any other ideas or thoughts, I sure am listening. A couple of things I did forget to mention on my first post is that it is electric shift and I have been told that it is electronic ignition. Thanks for all of the help in the past, This site sure has helped out this new boater alot!
