OK. I replaced the impeller and both housings, upper and lower and everything else in between on my 95' merc 40 hp 4 cyl (and I have a left over washer which is about 3/4" inside dia Where does it go?). I took it out for a ride and it would **** good, but very hot(Is That bad?)until i got above 3000 rpms, then white smoke would come from the **** hole and it looked like it was spitting very little water. When I came back down to 1500 rpms it would sputter water out of the hole for a minute then pee fine again. When I got back to the launch ramp, I put it on my trailer(in the water) and I could go full throttle(forward/neutral) with it pissing fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong here. I wanna go fishing so bad, but I don't wanna blow my motor up trying to get to my favorite spot. If you can provide any input I would appreciate it.
