I did my first carb rebuild on a Holley 4010 using one of their rebuild kits recently. Everything went ok but I ended up with a spare part and I'm not sure where it's supposed to go. The exploded diagram from Holley doesn't seem to show it.

FYI I've got a manual choke on that carb. I remember the fast idle cam spring (5) flying out during disassembly so I thought that piece might ride the spring giving tension on the choke lever backup plate (8), but when i tried that, there was a lot of friction on the plate so I put a leftover ball bearing on the end of the spring instead.

Thanks,
-Mike

Re: help ID'ing leftover carb part

I got a reply from Holley

That part should not have been in a renew kit

It should come in a manual choke kit

It takes a spring and it to locks the choke lever in place
But you do not need it
Thanks
