I have purchased 2 waterpumps in an attempt to match a waterpump for my 350 sbc engine.

the engine has block #14093638
which comes back as 1987-1995 sbc 350

I have tried a truck water pump which turned out to be a long pump.

I returned the pump and while searching the database the parts guy came up with a 1990 corvette water pump, which at the time looked like it would work.

returned to the boat mounted the corvette pump only to find out the inlet (main) was too small, and the shaft was slightly bigger.

here is the pump that needs replacement: it looks to me like the numbers are 30430 or 30430-1 but im not sure about the -1 or even the 30430 ...

the first pump I tried was a cardone 55-1124 (long, no good)

the second pump was a cardone 55-13121 (close but smaller inlet and larger shaft)

can anyone help me find the match....

Thank you in advance

Hi there, your pictures didn't show up.

It's recommended that you use a marine water pump and not an auto pump due to the internal material differences between the two.

Is your timing cover stamped steel or composite?

Looking up a Mercruiser water pump for the years between 1987 - 1995 as a guide only, The pumps part number comes up as 8503991 and running the part number here at iboats, two pumps come up and the description mentions timing cover material http://www.iboats.com/Search/dm/?key...ch_submit.y=20

PS, Looking up a 1990 OMC 5.7L, the OEM pump part number is 3853850

Hope this helps, good luck.:)

No pics yet, JT. Photobucket is working best to post pics right now. Copy the Photobucket IMG Code and paste in your message.

I have bought from iboats before and it took about a month to receive the item.

it was NOT iboats fault; canadian customs held the item for over 2 weeks, I ended up buying the part locally and then received my (spare) propeller a few weeks later.-- which then became an expensive spare prop.

would order again, just not if I plan on using my boat in the next month ... as now I live in the boonies, where couriers wont even deliver without adding an 80$ surcharge on top of a ridiculous 75$ brokerage fee, on top of a 20$ import duty. --- makes a 100$ part cost 275$

sorry for the long story, but you asked the question ... :)
