OK, in a previous thread I posted a picture of my new Glasply. It's a 17.5' with a Mercruiser 140 and a pre-Alpha outdrive. It had two Coast Guard badges on it, one glued over the other. The top one identified it as a 181SL with a persons capacity of 920# and a weight capacity of 920#. The other badge identified it as a 175Sl with persons capacity of 1200 and weight capacity of 1600.

Anyone know what these model numbers refer to?

Is the capacity on the first badge 920+920, or 920 total? Is the second badge saying 2800# total capacity? That sounds like an awful lot.

One final thing--anyone know the weight of a boat like this? I'm going to be buying a trailer and I'd like to know whether I need trailer brakes to pull it with an RWD small pickup.

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Help Identifying my boat and its capacity.

Mr. Sam2,

Still looking for a Glasply? I have a rare find.
At an estate sale in Texas, I found a like new, 1981 16' Glasply. This boat was in a closed garage covered with a fitted tarp. This boat was properly winterized the last time it was put up in 1999. This boat has no more than 15 hours and is in excellent condition.

Let me know if you are interested.

iam1golf,

Thanks for the info, I am personally only interested in the 181 ( outboard model ) to rebuild or restored, but it sounds like that 16' will be a good boat for someone.
