Hello from Australia,

My first post here, I am an Irish man living in Australia. I managed to buy a half cabin from a good friend. Its my first boat and I am really excited about. It needs some work but there the sort of projects I love!!!

Ok my boat experience is rubbish (getting my license this week), I dont know too much about the engines or servicing them. The boat was sitting for over a year and the engine cover got nicked and was open to the elements. I am the process of organising to get the floor redone as it is a tab soft. The engine is a evinrude 75hp not to sure the year. We tested the engine with starter fluid and she fired up!!! very happy indeed.

The trim/ tilt motor is knackered, this is where I need some help. I have taken a pic of the trim tilt motor which is not working. I dont know where to begin in getting a replacemnet. The guy who I bought it from told me it was beyond repair. The serial on the engine is 75749SC. Any ideas what model trim it is IMG_0148.jpg

From what I understand your better off getting a new replacement motor for the trim tilt (not cheap), If I manage to source one do I need special tool to replace. I am at the stage now where I am doing my research about the engines and how to service them. Does any one have any good pdf documents giving the motor a good service etc.

The boat is going to get a full make over, I try and upload as many pics as I can.

Many thanks.

Re: Help identifying a trim / tilt replacement

I cant offer any advice on the trim motor issue but as as for "Giving the motor a good service", step 1 is to get an OMC factory service manual specifically for your HP and model year. If you post the model number we can tell you what the model year is.
You will definitely want to change the water pump impeller and if it were mine I would disassemble and clean the carbs simply as a matter of routine maintenance since it hasn't run in a while.
Off topic... Are those Fairlady wheels on your trailer? They look pretty cool.
