Help identifying 1985 starcraft model

Hi All, I'm looking for the following information for insurance purposes:
1) Model of boat
2) Approximate cash value
3) Approximate cash value of motor (Yamaha 50DETO 50 HP outboard)

Any assistance appreciated.

An 85 should have a HIN number on it, top right of the transom, then look it up in the HIN databases that various websites offer, it will tell you the model..

Price is always determine by location and condition.

You did get some paperwork when you plunked down the cash, didn't you?

She looks like a bowrider. so maybe an SS or SuperSport.

Looks like a Mariner maybe.
Really can't tell till we see the interior, and see if it has been modified.
Splashwell area looks older than 85 from what we can see in that photo.

HIN hull id number should be on the paperwork, and on the top right corner of the transom, on the outside.


As for value, different value in Hawaii than in Alabama, or Ontario, or Indiana, and much of the value is based on condition.

Here in Wisconsin, $2200 if engine runs and floor is solid.

Looks like you have a 16' SS that has been savaged from what I can tell it's missing the split walk though windshield.

The thing about old boats is that their worth what someone is willing to pay, there's not a set amount once they reach that 30+ year mark. It's all about condition and options.

I would insure the boat for replacement cost of course which in my area would be $4000.00

As mentioned, value depends a lot on location and condition. Figure out how much you'd be out to replace it, and what you'd be comfortable accepting in case of a total loss. Use that as a starting point.

The bulk of the value will be based on condition, how you equip it, and on the particulars of the policy and what it covers.
