I have an older small Johnson outboard that I can't seem to identify the Horsepower or Year on. The serial number tag reads: Model# 4W69B and serial# E3138103. At the bottom of the tag it says that it is a Johnson and I can make out the Johnson logo under the repainted cowling. The lower unit is a dark green (appears to be original paint) and the cowling has been repainted (over decals) white. I hope to restore it and use it but need to know what I have in order to get the proper colors, decals and parts if needed. The inspiration for this came from this forum and the restored outboards I've seen here. Thanks for the inspiration and any help. If anyone has any ideas on the original colors or a line on where I can get some original or reproduction decals for this I would also be interested in those. Thanks again!

That is a 1969 4HP Johnny, John or Mary Beth.

Terrible engine. You need to send it to me and I will administer the proper punishment.

Yeah, I guess that joke does get old, doesn't it.

One of the. . .no, THE greatest outboard ever made. Glad you plan to restore her, she deserves it. :)

Some of the guys here are small JohnnyRude specialists and restore them regularly. Expect a lot of priceless advice.
