Help identifing old Johnson Seahorse. (pic)

Can anyone help me to identify this old engine.<br />There are no serial/model #'s, nor can I find any numbers on welch plugs.<br /><br />

I've got one just like it. Mine's an HD15 2½hp twin from 1940. They made these from 1939 till about '50. <br />Mine has a boss right on the front of the cowling (which I think is also the gas tank) where the numbers are stamped. They are small but out in the open.<br />Yours may be from the Belgian factory and may have numbers displayed differently but, look again. If you wanted to get replacement parts the model number might be necessary.<br />This web site has a complete manual that goes up to 1940. <br /> http://users2.ev1.net/~rainbowchaser/manuals/ejs/ejs.html <br />That motor was relatively new in 1940 but there is enough in the maual for a competant mechanic to do whatever repairs are needed (if you can find the necessary parts). <br />You're lucky. That motor seems to have all the exterior pieces. <br />Again, look for the number. Without it you are flying blind. <br /><br />Charlie

Or it could be a DS-37 or 38 from the late '30's, 2.1 hp:<br /><br />

The recoil starter looks the same and so does the leg. But the rear engine shroud on the later engines is a separate piece. The seam running down between the gas tank and the rear shroud really shows up in the photo.<br />And the gas filler in the photo doesn't show up in your picture at all. Also, the tiller is on the wrong side. What gives?

Really off topic, and I apologoze for this RPJS, but can somebody quickly explain how I would go about posting a picture into a post, as has been done above, I really need to get a picture up on this forum. Thanks, and sorry again.
