help ID this motor

well I think this is a 1980s something 8 horse mariner ,but not sure I think the main plate was popped off any help would be great thanks. and thanks to all for the lessons on how to post pics

6 or 8 hp Mariner mid 80's vintage....

Your serial number on the welch plug shows it to be a 1984 8 HP Model number 7008204.

Search the model number online for a parts catalog.
