Hi everyone this is my first post on here, and also my first time doing any sort of boat restoration.

I have inherited a Boat which im hoping to do up and then use for fishing....:):)

However although I know this boat is old and in bad condition I do not know what type of boat it is etc....

I was wondering if I post a few pictures if anyone could tell me. I have looked for a HIN but cant find anything. The only plate I can find is beside the cabin but it has been painted several times, and I cant see if there is any info on it. I will be removing this paint on the near future.

The Boat is made of fiberglass construction and is 18ft long and 5ft 6ish across the transom(whats left of it)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! ID my Boat PLease

welcome to Iboats

I assume you are in Europe? Can't say what the title requirements are there but get that squared away before doing anything.

get someone who knows what their doing to look at the structural integrity of the transom and hull stringers. If it's a salt water boat and has been left draining (not accumulating water) it could be fine as is.

plan to replace the pulley steering with hard cable steering for safety reasons.

you're going to need a good size outboard on it--115-175 I'd say

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! ID my Boat PLease

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes I live in England. What type of paperwork will I need as I can't find anything.

As I said its been left a while. The transom is definitely going to need replacing. I was hoping to find a plan for this.

If I could find out the make it would make it a damn site easier to find bits.

Thanks again for your help
I expect I may be on here quite a bit if I start this project over the next couple of months/years

Can't add anything on making it legal.

Just wanted to say that is the coolest bow rail I have ever seen.

If you move forward good luck on the project.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! ID my Boat PLease

You have to consult local authorities to know what is required to get it titled and legal. IN the USA that's a crucial first step and different in every state.

You really don't need to know the brand on a boat that old (assuming you aren't doing a show-quality restoration). You'll be fabricating the transom, stringers, whatever from scratch; even if you found the brand you wouldn't likely find any parts or even plans and specs of the detail about the hull construction.

Narrow beam and only an 18'... but the bow rail looks like she may have been used as a harpoon boat attached to a mother (processing) ship.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! ID my Boat PLease

The bow rail is immense. Can't wait to have my titanic moment feeling like I can fly (not sinking, I hope)

Had a look tonight and think the stringers are going to need replacing as there is a small hole in it with rotten wood underneath, aswell as the already 3/4 removed transom. Two big jobs to start.

But first I must look into uk registration. With no name or plate and no papers to be found, this bit could be the most fun

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! ID my Boat PLease

horrid stuff.
unless you're one of a number of blokes standing around it with nice U/O shotguns waiting for the Jack Russells/fox Terriers to do their stuff inside it...and have foxes running everywhere

my reference to wattle trees was just an unusual way of asking if it was a local boat,

l'd also take pics of the boat to chandleries, marinas etc or boat magazines...even wooden boat mags with older staff members,
someone will remember it

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! ID my Boat PLease

The cantilever at the back of the cabin is unique, but I can't find anything out there to match it. Cool old half cab though, and that bow rail does have some panache.

Welcome aboard.
